SALT WAREHOUSE AT CROXTON 1974 2
Here's another view of the old salt works building next to the Trent & Mersey Canal towpath near Croxton Lane. Because the original was so dark we've used equalisation to bring out the detail, a process which has had a detrimental effect on the colours, making that 1970s vintage car in particular look like it has just materialised out of thin air. Note that there is another building beyond the one we are talking about. In one corner of the salt works site was a brine shaft, which will now be surrounded by modern housing. Presumably this was long since filled in, or covered over. Interestingly, the original Kodak slide has the inscription: 'Old Salt Works off Croxton Lane (site of proposed marina).
